Zonta has a strong local commitment and as a Club we meet every 2nd Tuesday of each month – if you are interested please call Corral or Bernadette at Freedom Pools and we will be happy to have you come along to one of our meetings. We are a very friendly and enthusiastic Club and as members we are all united in trying to make a difference to women’s lives both here on the Coast and overseas.

Our local projects include

• The setting up of a Wig Library for women dealing with cancer related diseases
• Distribution of toiletries, Christmas presents and books to three local refuges
• Linen drives to assist women leaving refuges to set up home
• Two Study Grants of $1,000 each presented to Tertiary students a the Tafe Campus
• A Scholarship for a young woman in Public Affairs to support and direct her from High School into Tertiary study and the payments to be staggered throughout the year
• A donation to Narara Valley High School to support their young Women’s group
• The Club participates in the Cancer Relay for Life each year
• The Club now participates in the White Ribbon Day – an initiative to make men aware violence against women is not acceptable
• We actively participate in The Status of Women committee formed by Gosford City Council

As members we hold various fundraisers over the year which include Movie Nights, Melbourne Cup Luncheon, A Status of Women Dinner, one of our members is a renowned local artist – Janet Cobb – and Janet opens her studio once a year with a proportion of the funds raised going to Zonta, the local Flight Centre at Terrigal provide ongoing donations, we also make Birthing Kits for distribution overseas and just recently we held a packing day at Avoca Surf Club and packed over 2,000 kits thanks to the participation of many local people.

At Zonta we endeavour to make a difference to women all over the world less fortunate than ourselves and we do so in a friendly and enthusiastic environment, so please consider coming along and seeing just what we are about.
